ACADEMIC INFORMATION

Like all other colleges of the state except for the general administration and financial control this college is also governed by the statues and ordinances of the H.P. University, Shimla in all academic matters. It follows the academic calendar prescribed by the University.
SEMESTER SYSTEM
From the academic session .2013-14, college has switched over from the annual system to the semester system for undergraduate courses whereas semester system already introduced in PG courses .The duration of the semester will be six months involving teaching for 15weeks for a 6 day week excluding duration of minor exams, tests end term examinations and semester breaks [90 teaching days].
CHOICE BASED CREDIT SYSTEM (CBCS) AND CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT GRADING PATTERN (CAGP) FOR UNDER-GRADUATE DEGREE PROGRAMMES

From the academic session [2013-14] Choice-based and credit-based grading system with credits for various courses is being followed. Students have flexibility and a wider choice of subjects across various streams, but subject to the availability of courses and facilities in the college. Choice Based Credit System is an internationally acknowledged system of structured delivery system of learner engagement for a planned learning experience, offering opportunities to not only learn core subjects but to indulge in exploring other avenues of learning beyond core subjects for an overall growth in creating holistic personality ready to face the world. It is a mean to achieve excellence through comprehensive continuous assessment. The programme is considered completed when the student cumulates the requisite number of successful credits (passed), i.e. at least 106 credits for an undergraduate degree. All courses (Compulsory, Core, Elective etc.) involve an evaluation system of students that has the two components:-(i) Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) accounting for 50% [for 2013-14 and 2014-15 batches]and 30% [for 2015-16 onwards] of the final grade that studentsĀ  get in a course for ; and(ii) End-Semester Examination (ESE) accounting for the remaining 50% [for 2013-14 and 2014-15 batches] and 70% [for 2015-16 onwards] of the final grade that the students get in a course. Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) will have three components (a) Classroom Attendance [5%] (b) Minor Tests [30%] (c) Seminar / Assignment / Term Paper [15%] for 2013-14 and 2014-15 batches students whereas for the students of 2015-16 onwards % age of these components will beā€¦ (a) Classroom Attendance [5%], Minor Tests [15%](c) Seminar / Assignment / Term Paper [10%].
